Pavlo’s approach
The interaction with visually impaired users can be conducted through audio primarily, but also through vibration and bluetooth connection to their aid devices. Since GPS signal can be unstable in urban environment and can lead to precise positioning glitches, we can't completely rely on it and should provide step by step navigation instructions first and use gps as a supportive tool. After user initiate the navigation, the app should provide short audio overview of the directions with key highlights, like intersections, stairs, obstacles, etc. Then the first step where to go should be described, with warnings. When users approaches a potential hazard, the app based on GPS signal should inform about it through audio, vibration, or supporting device. User should have option to move to the next step, skipping gps positioning. Additionally the app should let them go back to general overview of the directions considering current location and provide request for help from specialized services. As an additional feature, the app should let user use their camera for better positioning and get description of their surrounding.
